Over the last few years I have been so consumed with raising and nurturing my children, that I’ve forgotten to look after myself. It was only when I was riffling through my wardrobe last winter and found that most of my clothing was either the wrong size or sporting holes, that I realised it was time for an overhaul. So this year I’ve been making a point of indulging in some retail therapy and updating my wardrobe. Recently I’ve been seeing some amazing leopard print pieces and as my wardrobe is in the middle of upgrade, it seemed only fitting to nab myself a leopard print skirt.
Being petite can make shopping a bit tricky at times because things can come up a bit tight or far too long, but I found a denim leopard print skirt in Topshop and loved it so much, it seemed rude not to buy it. As it is denim, the skirt is quite structured and although I’m sad to be seeing the light, airy fabrics begin to fade away as the summer does, I’m looking forward to wearing heavier and chunkier materials.
I’d planned a day date with Mr. C and as the weather is starting to get that crisp chill in the air, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to dig out some light knitwear to mix with my new leopard print skirt. I opted for a black rollback jumper and added some tights and a chunky necklace. It was the perfect combination for our coffee day date.
We had planned our day date a few weeks in advance, but Monkey hasn’t been feeling well and so he had the day off nursery and gatecrashed our date. He drifted off to sleep during the walk to the cafe, so even with a little gatecrasher, we managed to drink hot tea and have a good natter. We sat and talked about all of the things that have changed since we became parents and marvelled at how after four years of being in the middle of the wild whirlwind of parenting, we finally feel like we are finding our feet. I can’t say it was was leopard print skirt that did it, but it was certainly a step in the right direction.
