So for this post I thought I would write about some of the products I’ve been loving recently and share one of my favourite looks that I created with them… the red lips and smokey eyes make up look.
I’ve been looking for a new primer and new foundation for a while. My skin can get quite dry, so if I don’t get the right pairing then my base can go from bare to cakey very quickly. When I’m going out for the evening I really like using a full coverage foundation. For this look I used the Smashbox Photo Finish primer and the MAC Studio Sculpt foundation. Personally I didn’t think the Smashbox primer was as nourishing as it could be, so when it was paired with a heavy foundation I had to use a beauty blender to smooth the foundation.
To add definition the face I used a Clinique blush, a Clinique bronzer and the Too Faced Cocoa Contour palette. I then highlighted my cheekbones using the Too Faced Candlelight Glow in ‘warm glow’ shade.
I recently bought an eyeshadow palette from Smashbox… it’s amazing! I like to keep my eye makeup quite earthy and as much as I love the Urban Decay palettes, sometimes there is just a bit too much sparkle in them. So when I came across the Smashbox Cover Shot Matte Eye Palette, I just had to have it.
The palette has six shadows and two larger base shades. The product applies very easily and the colours blend together incredibly well. For my red lips and smokey eyes look, I used ‘Assistant’ as my base and then used ‘Publisher’ and ‘Angles’ for my outer eye. I then cracked open my Urban Decay Naked 2 palette and used ‘Half baked’ for my inner eye and added ‘chopper’ to the middle of my eyelid to help blend with the darker matte colours from the Smashbox palette.
I then finished off the look with Dior’s Diorshow mascara and Maybelline’s Fatal Red Colour Sensational Lipstick.
